About honeycomb, pleasant words and baked homemade barbecue sauce chicken

Pleasant words are like honeycomb, sweet to the soul, healing to the bones.
Proverbs 16:24

How true!  Here's another one.

A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.
Proverbs 25:11

Death and life are in the power of the tongue.  Food for thought.

And about honey, sweet, smooth, healing ... and kids-friendly!  I experimented with honey, ketchup and chicken wings and came up with this concoction that my kids simply love.  It's a simple homemade barbecue sauce that's easy to put together.  In fact, it's great for any occasion.  And the best part, you don't have to use any oil.  I've made this over two Christmases and it's still one of the hot favourites at my Christmas party.

Ingredients
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons of ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon of mixed herbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon of crushed peppercorns or ground pepper
  • 8 to 10 chicken wings

Method
  1. Mix the ketchup, honey, Worcestershire sauce, mixed herbs, and pepper
  2. Marinate the chicken wings and leave it for about an hour
  3. Meanwhile heat oven to 200 degrees Celsius
  4. Place marinated chicken wings into a baking tray lined with aluminum foil
  5. Bake for 30 minutes

And the result, simply delicious.  You can drizzle the gravy over the chicken wings.  Serve hot.
